Man Stops Armed Robbery In Starbucks- Now He's Paying The Price

A suspect in an armed robbery is threatening to file a lawsuit against the guy who took him down. Apparently, the man who threatened a clerk with a gun and a knife feels that the customer who hit him with a chair and wrestled him to the ground was out of line. Police have called the lawsuit 'ludicrous'.

In July 30-year-old Ryan Michael Flores walked into a Starbucks in Fresno, California wearing a Transformer mask, holding a gun and a plastic grocery bag. He then pulled a knife out of his pocket and held it. Flores allegedly attempted to rob the store, and was engaged with the clerk as a customer snuck up behind him with a chair.

The entire scene was captured on video surveillance cameras. Cregg Jerri, the 58-year-old customer, struck Flores over the back with the chair, knocking off his mask. The two then got into a scuffle and struggled for the knife.

Flores stabbed Jerri in the neck and in multiple other places. He was seriously injured and had to get six staples to close the wound in his neck.

The suspect was stabbed multiple times in the scuffle himself, then managed to escape. He got into his truck and drove away, but police later found him bleeding on the side of the road.

Flores nearly died from the incident. According to his mother, her son is planning to sue the hero who took him down.

"He has 17 total stab wounds, lacerations, and defensive wounds," said Pamela Chimenti, Flores' mother, to CBS News. "The guy, in my opinion, went from a Good Samaritan to a vigilante. Stabbing somebody that many times, it doesn't take that many stab wounds to get somebody to succumb to you."

His mother's words might make you think that it's no great surprise that Flores grew up to be an armed robber. Clearly, things like responsibility and accountability escape his parent and are probably lessons that he never learned. Many are laughing at the notion, however, that the robber who menacingly brandished a large knife and a gun at an innocent coffee shop clerk is crying that someone used excessive force on him. What does he expect to happen when he threatens people's lives?

Flores is a bit embarrassed about the publicity his case has gotten. “Everybody in here knows me,” he said. “There are a lot of jokes.”

“He (Flores) pulled a gun, the (cashier) starts laughing at him. Then he pulls a knife and (Jerri) was hitting him with the chair," said Jerri's attorney, Ty Kharazi. "(Flores) turns and stabs Jerri... My client is a good Samaritan.”

Police celebrated Jerri as a hero for his bravery. They believe that Flores doesn't have a case. Lawyers have also commented, wishing Flores luck in selling his complaint to a judge or jury. Flores is currently serving time for second-degree robbery and assault with a deadly weapon. If all goes well for him, he could be out in October. When the Fresno Bee inquired about his lawsuit, he said he's 'taking it one step at a time'.

"I don't like to judge people, but that’s a lot of stab wounds," Flores whined.
