Shocking Thing Queen Said To Princess Diana Before She Divorced Prince Charles Finally Revealed

Princess Diana has been dead for nearly 20 years now, but interest in the former Princess of Wales' life has not gone away. A biographer has released new tapes that reveal more behind-the-scenes details about her fairytale romance that quickly turned into a horror story.

The never-before-aired tapes reveal that she turned to an unlikely source for advice before ending her marriage to Prince Charles: The Queen.

The tapes, which are set to be revealed in an upcoming documentary, say that Diana looked to her mother-in-law for help when her husband was having an affair.

According to new tapes, Diana confronted Prince Charles about his affair with Camilla Parker Bowles. Charles and Parker Bowles were dating before Charles and Diana began dating, but the timing was bad for the young couple and they both went on to marry other people.

Diana says that when she told Charles she knew about the affair, he became very cold toward her. “I refuse to be the only Prince of Wales who never had a mistress,” he said, according to the tapes.

Diana turned to Charles' mother, Queen Elizabeth II, for help. “So I went to the top lady, sobbing. And I said ‘What do I do? I’m coming to you, what do I do?’ And she said ‘I don’t know what you should do,’” Diana said. “And that was it. And that was help,” Diana said.

Shortly after, the couple separated and ultimately got divorced. Diana and her new lover were killed in a terrible car accident in 1997, while Charles eventually married Parker Bowles.

The private conversations were recorded after the divorce by Peter Settle, who was Diana's public speaking coach. The conversations are slated to air in an upcoming documentary entitled, "Diana: In Her Own Words."

Another detail leaked from the tapes says that Prince Philip, Charles' father, told his son that if his marriage to Diana didn't work out after five years, he could resume his relationship with Parker Bowles.

Diana also revealed that it took a while for her to warm up to the prince. When she first met him, she was fairly 'unimpressed'.

"He chatted me up," Diana says. "He was like a bad rash. He was all over me and I thought, you know, 'Urgh'. Whereupon, he leapt upon me and started kissing me and everything, and I thought, 'Waaah! This is not what people do,'" she said.

Diana’s brother, Earl Spencer, is pleading with British network Channel 4 not to release the tapes. He says that they could cause great distress, particularly to her two sons, Princes William and Harry.

Harry has only recently come forward to say that he has finally started coming to terms with his mother’s untimely death, and struggled with depression and denial for years.

The network doesn’t agree, and has not altered its plans to air the special in the month of the 20th anniversary of Diana’s death.
