Here's What Officers Found In Scott Peterson's Car After He Murdered His Wife (Photos)

Back in 2003, the nation became captivated by the case of Scott Peterson. He was arrested for the murder of his wife, Laci, and the couple’s unborn child after initially denying any involvement.

His alibi gradually fell apart, and the deal was sealed once his wife’s body washed ashore in an area that he had claimed to have been fishing at when they went missing. As the Daily Mail shares, police still had to track him down and arrest him, and that led them on a hot pursuit.

They would eventually catch up to him, and Peterson claimed he thought he was being tailed by the media. As such, he was attempting to elude them.

Any benefit of the doubt would quickly go by the wayside once cops saw what he had inside of his car. As part of the new ABC News special 'Truth and Lies: The Murder of Laci Peterson, the details on that are being released. Peterson claimed he was going out to do some golfing, but it looked like he was packed for something else.

“A search of the car he was in at the time turned up everything but golf clubs, and left police convinced that he had been trying to flee before he could be thrown behind bars. Investigators found six pairs of shoes and enough socks and underwear for weeks, along with over $300 of recently purchased camping equipment from REI including a tent and a water purifier,” the Mail reports.

“There were also 15 laminated missing flyers for his wife Laci that had never been passed out or put on display.”

That wasn’t all he had in his possession either, and some of the items are nothing short of mind blowing.

“Police had been tailing Scott for some time before he pulled over and they were able to pick him up in a parking lot where he claimed to be meeting his father and half-brother John for a round of golf at Torrey Pines in La Jolla,” the Mail adds.

“At the time he was in possession of three cell phones, $15,000 in cash, 200 sleeping pills, his brother John's ID, a dagger and a gun. Scott, who was 30 at the time, also had a map to the workplace of his mistress and approximately 10 Viagra tablets.”

Lead investigator Allen Brocchini recounts what the scene was like.

“He was driving 80 miles an hour on a freeway and he would slam his breaks on, pull over,” he said. “It got to the point where we had a helicopter, lost him ... either he’s going to kill somebody or one of these agents that are trying to follow him are going to get killed or kill somebody.”

Needless to say, it didn’t appear like Peterson was going out to do a little golfing. Sounds like the new special has all kinds of nuggets buried inside, and those that are still captivated by the case will surely be tuning in to hear the latest salacious revelations.
