He Set His Girlfriend On Fire - You Won’t Believe His Sentencing

Michael Slager has finally learned his fate after committing an absolutely horrific crime in Columbus, Ohio against his then-girlfriend. As WCMH reports, he’s been sentenced to 11 years in prison for lighting the woman on fire.

The woman, Judy Malinowski, is still in the hospital recovering from her injuries. She’s undergone 52 surgeries to deal with her massive injuries, and her days are filled with constant pain. Nonetheless, she still summoned the strength to speak out after his sentencing.

“I never knew that a human being could be so evil. He just stood there and did nothing,” she explained from her hospital bed.

While she’s managed to forgive him as a way of moving on with her life, she still feels justice has not been served by a long shot.

“He got off easy,” Malinowski continued.

Slager doused her with gas before lighting her on fire and watching, but Malinowski remarkably survived.

“There were days I told myself I can’t live like this. No one should have to live like this. Because I was in so much pain,” she says.

Despite her incredibly traumatic experience and the constant pain that she has to deal with, Malinowski has her sights set on warning other women on the signs of domestic violence. That’s an incredibly noble approach to her situation, especially when considering the fact that she remains in critical condition 15 months after the terrifying attack.

“She wants everyone to know, she’s keeps telling me mom, tell them verbal abuse is the start of physical abuse,” says her mother, Bonnie Bowes.

Slager plead down to no contest and received a reduced sentence - albeit the maximum - but Malinowski and Bowes aren’t sitting by the wayside on that front either. They’re advocating for the passage of what’s known as Judy’s Law, which would increase the maximum sentence for those convicted of aggravated arson.
