He Assumed Stealing From Her Would Be Easy Because Of Her Size - He Was Dead Wrong

Hiring employees at retail shops can be a stressful experience for store owners and managers. You never know if an employee is going to show true loyalty to the company and brand. However, the hiring staff at a K-Market store in Helsinki, Finland, will be congratulating themselves after a store employee put her body on the line to stop a pair of thieves from making off with several cases of beer.

The story was published by the popular Finnish News Group, Tamperelainen, and the owner of the store, Saku Kytol, posted footage of the incident online, where it has since gone viral, receiving tens of thousands of views from around the world.
A few minutes before the K-Market was due to close, the female shop assistant noticed that two men were attempting to sneak out the front door without paying for their beer cases.

After a brief altercation, the men attempted to barge their way out onto the street, prompting the defiant woman to spray one of the men with pepper spray. As the second man stops in his tracks in amazement, the young woman can be seen hauling his traumatized friend in with a firm hand on his clothing.

According to Mr. Kytola, this incident has not been uncommon in the area and his employees have been forced to confront thieves and other petty criminals in the store before, occasionally using pepper spray in self-defense, saying: "We have no other mode of operation to be able to intervene. Police resources are small and the penalties are insignificant." Mr. Kytola informed reporters from Tamperelainen that the indolent response from Finnish police in regards to petty crime, has contributed to a rise in theft, muggings and harassment on the street.

Police and paramedics were called to the scene after the men were detained in the store by the female employee. In this particular case, it remains unclear if police charged the men in relation to the attempted robbery.
