Guy Sneaks Up Behind Woman in Target Parking Lot, Shocked at What He's Holding

It was a rainy summer day in Kenner, Louisiana. Most people shopping at the local Target apparently forgot to bring their umbrellas with them. They were lucky that a Good Samaritan brought his, and he was ready to lend some shelter.

A shopper at a Target snapped a picture of James Varnado helping other shoppers to their car. Varnado had a large umbrella handy, and he escorted several people from the store doors to their cars with it to keep them, and their purchases, from getting soaked.

Deepak Saini witnessed the good deed, snapped some photos of it and shared them to Facebook. "When I saw this, I thought, people need to see that. There are people that are kind on both sides of the color line, and we need to focus more on how we can help each other and be there for each other, rather than what sets us apart," he said.

Varnado was shocked when WNGO News tracked him down to ask him about the incident. "I didn't expect anybody to show it or get recognition or anything like that," James said. "I just did what I always do."

"It was really interesting because people were really touched," said Saini. "They were taken aback. I mean no one really wants to get wet, but this guy also didn't have to take it upon himself to help people."

"People are people. Help. It doesn't matter who you are. It doesn't matter what you do. It doesn't matter if you're the richest person in the world or the poorest person in the world," said Varnado. "Somebody needs help? Help 'em."

There’s more hope for society than we realize, we just need to look for the little acts of kindness like this to inspire us.
