Group Harasses Vet's Wife Before Punching Her In The Face - Big Mistake

An Australian Iraqi veteran took to Facebook to set the record straight about what happened between himself, his wife and eight Muslim men. The couple got into a physical confrontation with a group of fisherman on Victoria's Surf Coast last year. The vet defends his actions and said he'd 'do it again in a heartbeat' if the situation repeated itself.

Kyle Tyrrell, 48, and his wife Liana and their daughter were out on the water when they encountered a group of three Muslim fishermen. One put a crab pot in the water, and Liana informed the men that they were in a marine sanctuary. Fishing was banned from the area.

Being told what to do by a woman didn't sit well with the fishermen, and they began to verbally attack Liana. They unleashed a slew of sexist, racist comments, such as calling her 'white sh-t' and 'white slut'.

When Liana ignored them, the men became irate. One man, in particular, stood up and went into an angry rant. Then he threatened physical violence.

"His mates got close to me and then he made a run for my wife, that's when I ran at him, he threw a punch which I ducked and the fight started. At no time could either my wife, daughter or I safely walk away," Tyrrell explained. "At that point, five more joined the fight, one punching my wife as she attempted to get our daughter up the beach."

"Your husband needs to teach you a lesson," one of the Muslim men said to Liana.

Tyrrell escaped with a black eye, but one of the Muslim men ended up in the hospital. Tyrrell felt the need to explain the attack in a Facebook post because he was initially criticized for saying his wife was the victim of a racist, culturally motivated attack.

"I would do the same thing again in a heartbeat, in fact, I would do the same thing for any woman I saw in that situation, not just my wife," said Tyrrell.
