Grandma’s Passing Leads To Toddler Living Alone For A Week (PHOTOS)

When parents of young children find that they are going to be away for a bit, the knowledge that their little ones will be safe and sound in the home of a relative can provide a soothing sense of comfort. According to Local 8 Now, this woman’s feelings of comfort quickly shifted to the opposite end of the emotional scale.

Tracy Ineichen is serving a stint behind bars for undisclosed reasons, and she had left her 15-month-old daughter Brier in the care of her mother. When Tracy wasn’t able to get a hold of her mother one day, she immediately knew something was wrong, and enlisted the aid of a close friend to get to the bottom of it.

Anthony Waldo, who describes himself as a kind of godfather for Brier, was summoned to go check on things.

"I got a phone call from Tracy saying something's wrong...something's very wrong," Anthony explains.

He would arrive at Tracy’s mother’s home and clearly see Brier in her crib through the window, but with no answer at the door, he was left with little choice to break it down and get to Brier.

"When I grabbed her, she just couldn't hold her head up. She was just hugging on me and collapsed on me," said Anthony.

There was no sign of the baby’s grandmother. As he checked through the house, he would come across the woman on the bathroom floor. Annette Ineichen was apparently dead for several days when he discovered her, leaving Brier to fend for herself. Anthony is hoping that Brier will be placed in his custody or that of a family member.
