Good Samaritan Offers Teens Stuck In A Ditch Some Assistance - Pays The Ultimate Price

Two teens shot and killed a man who stopped to help them when their vehicle was stuck. The victim’s father got to have his say in bond court and the judge denied bail for the teens.

Deon Frasier, 17, and 19-year-old Michael Dupree-Tyler, were arrested and charged with murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime. The two North Carolina teens got stuck in a ditch, and Chadwick Garrett, 45, offered to help them pull out their vehicle for $20.

After Garrett helped get the Dodge Durango out of the ditch, instead of paying him, the teens killed him. Frasier allegedly pulled a gun and shot the Good Samaritan in the chest several times. He then got into the car and Tyler drove off.

A woman who knew the suspects called 20 minutes after the crime to report the two young men had taken her Dodge Durango without permission. Her description of her car matched the car witnesses saw at the murder scene. When the suspects returned to the woman's home, police arrived. They gave themselves up after a brief standoff and confessed.

Garrett's father called them 'cowards' and said, "I don't think it was so much robbery, I think it was hatred of your own brother."

"I'm so sorry this happened to you; you all hadn't even grown yet, the jail suit don't even fit you," said Garrett's father. "You're pitiful."

Frasier was out on bond for possession of a stolen car at the time. The judge denied the two bail.
