Good Samaritan Dies Trying To Help Car Crash Victim

Around 1:30 a.m. on Saturday, South Carolina good Samaritan Jessica Nicole Smith and a few other do-gooders pulled over on I-385 when they noticed a wrecked pickup truck. They were looking into the crashed auto when Smith heard a man yelling from under the interstate bridge.

The man was the driver of the pickup, and he was thrown from his vehicle during the accident. Smith decided to climb over the bridge to help him.

She may have thought the underpass road was just a few feet below the bridge. As she tried to climb down, she fell more than 20 feet to her death.

The condition of the man and the reason for the crash are still unclear. Nicole's sister, Hope Smith, is now caring for her 9-year-old son Isaiah.

Hope said of her sister "She would go to the ends of the earth to do for him and that was her biggest fear, was not being around for him. He's going to be OK because I’m going to make sure of that but it's going to be tough growing up from the age of 9 without your mom.”
