Girlfriend Of Late Bodybuilder Rich Piana Reveals His Stunning Pre-Workout Habit

Back in August, bodybuilder Rich Piana shockingly passed away at the age of 46. He had collapsed at his apartment, and his girlfriend, Chanel, would rush to his aid. She was unable to revive him, and emergency responders were soon called. Piana was rushed to the hospital and placed in a medically-induced coma. He showed no signs of progress, and he would pass away three weeks later.

Investigators have been trying to make heads or tails of what happened, and the rumor mill has been running rampant with speculation on what caused the massive man to collapse. Some new details have been released, and they don’t point to him having the healthiest of habits. As TMZ shares, his girlfriend has revealed that Piana would snort pre-workout powder as if it was an illicit drug.

Reports indicate that investigators found a white powder at his apartment soon after the medical emergency, and they would ask his girlfriend what it was.

"He would snort this powder," she would reportedly tell them, but she would note that she didn’t believe it was an illicit drug of any kind.

She would eventually reveal that it was CON-CRET PRE workout powder (Lemon-Lime), which is noted to be a highly caffeinated pre-workout booster. Additional poking around by the investigators would also lead to the discovery of 20 bottles of steroids. Autopsy results on Piana were inconclusive, but it’s noted that he displayed signs of heart disease.

So did his disturbing pre-workout habits and apparent steroid abuse lead to his demise? That’s unclear, but it’s not too difficult to see how that conclusion could be reached. Back in 2014, Piana was quite outspoken about his steroid abuse in a post on YouTube.

"If you want to become a professional bodybuilder, guess what - you're probably going to have to f****in' do 'em," he said. "You're not going to have a choice."

Alright. While the use of steroids may assist those that hope to reach a ginormous size, the risks inherent in the taking of the drug have been well-documented. Quite simply, rampant steroid abuse and a long life don’t go hand in hand. For those that are fortunate enough to fend off the grim reaper after years of abuse, they often find they’re not as fortunate in the battle against ailments caused by years of abuse.

Can we say without a doubt that’s what happened to Piana? No, as the autopsy results have been deemed to be inconclusive. However, there’s no reason that his death can’t still serve as a cautionary tale for bodybuilders and proponents of growing their bodies to epic proportions. If you put bad things in your body, bad things will happen to your body.

Even if Piana had been off steroids at the time of his death, his proclivity for snorting a pre-workout powder was not the sign of someone that was using the product as intended. Sincere condolences go out to his girlfriend and loved ones.
