Girl Complains Of Extreme Stomach Pain, Doctor's Make Unexpected Find (PHOTOS)

If you thought only cats got hairballs, you were apparently wrong. One teen in India got such a bad hairball that it caused a blockage in her intestines.

The 17-year-old girl, known only as Komal, went to the hospital after suffering from severe stomach pain. The teen had no appetite, and when she did eat she couldn't keep anything down. She could barely walk she was in such pain.

Doctors examined her and discovered the teen had a hairball in her stomach causing a blockage. They rushed her into surgery to remove it. The hairball weighed a whopping 2.2 pounds.

The family had no idea why the teen was suffering, but doctors discovered that she had a condition that involves pulling out one's own hair (trichotillomania) and eating it (trichophagia). The teen had apparently been eating her own hair for years.

"For the last three years, we had thought she had some gynecological problem as told to us by doctors," said Komal's father. "We even spent £5,000 on various tests and medicines but no doctor could see the hairball in stomach."

The family is shocked, but happy that their daughter will be fine. They plan to take her for counseling to try and break her of the addiction.
