FLOTUS Blasts Kathy Griffin Over Disturbing Trump Picture Stunt, Questions Her Sanity

The reaction continues to flow in over the disturbing picture of comedienne Kathy Griffin holding up a prop that was meant to represent the bloody severed head of President Donald Trump. Griffin has been ruthlessly assailed over her unfathomable decision, and the general consensus is that she has destroyed her career as a result of it. As the New York Post shares, First Lady Melania Trump feels there are some other things Griffin should be concerned about as well.

One of the more disturbing reports to emanate out of the whole controversy was that the Trump’s 11-year-old son, Barron, saw the image on television and became incredibly upset over it. That was among the many aspects of the whole matter that upset Melania, who released a statement about Griffin’s unbelievably poor choice.

“As a mother, a wife, and a human being, that photo is very disturbing,” the statement read. “When you consider some of the atrocities happening in the world today, a photo opportunity like this is simply wrong and makes you wonder about the mental health of the person who did it,”

The First Lady’s assessment is spot on, as there is no justifiable explanation for Griffin to do what she did. There’s absolutely nothing artistic, edgy, or funny about it, and it sounds like she’ll have a ton of time on her hands to think through the wisdom of her decision. At least one of her upcoming shows has already been canceled, and CNN has informed her that she will need to find something else to do on New Year’s Eve.

The president would also respond the following day on social media, and his response was also right on the mark.

“Kathy Griffin should be ashamed of herself. My children, especially my 11 year old son, Barron, are having a hard time with this. Sick!” he wrote.

Griffin has apologized, as she uploaded a video expressing remorse after seeing the firestorm she had created.

“I sincerely apologize. I am just now seeing the reaction of these images. I am a comic, I crossed the line. I move the line, and then I cross it,” she said. “The image is too disturbing. I understand how it offends people. It wasn’t funny, I get it. I’ve made a lot of mistakes in my career, I will continue…I asked your forgiveness.”

That’s all fine, well and good that she’s so remorseful about it now that she has committed career suicide, but this crosses far too many lines to be considered an average mistake. As Griffin and photographer Tyler Shields were preparing to upload the images, the scene of them actually discussing the outlandishness of what they were about to do was captured on video. That would have been a perfect time to have an ‘a-ha’ moment, but Griffin went ahead with the pic anyway.

We can only speculate as to why Griffin and Shields pulled the trigger, but the whole stunt reeks of a desperate cry for attention. Griffin got that - and then some - but her plan fell remarkably short of whatever mark it was attempting to hit from that point.
