Florida Sheriff Says Good Citizens with Guns Are a Way to Stop Bad Guys with Guns

After the San Bernardino shootings, Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey said that the "only way to stop a bad guy with a gun, is a good guy with a gun."

His statement was also issued after President Obama's call for gun control. In addition, Ivey said that armed citizens may be the answer to a terrorist attack. Furthermore, he stated that President Obama was being "too politically correct" in urging Americans not to turn against Muslims.

Ivey stated that leaders need to start being "bold, patriotic and aggressive in protecting our country." Ivey went on to say "This is not about politics, religion, ethnicity, race or social status. This is about our freedom, humanity, way of life and the future of our great nation."

Sheriff Ivey argued that even if police responded to the San Bernardino shooting in four minutes, the extremists still had time to kill 14 people and injure another 21.

He stated, "If you are a person who is legally licensed to carry a firearm...you and you alone may be the first line of defense for you, your family, and others around you in a terrorist or active shooter scenario."
