First-Time Parents Shocked When Children's Toy Tells Them To F-Word The Door

When Chloe Angel, a 26-year-old mom from Rotherham, South Yorkshire, gave her son, 11-month-old Huey Hinchliffe, an AlphaPup musical dog toy, she had no idea that the kid-friendly messages the toy ‘sang’ would sound just like very rude swear words. Ms. Angel initially bought the toy because she thought it would make a good reward for Huey’s good behavior, telling the Metro: “Huey had been a really good boy all day. We’d had his first swimming lesson and he was so well-behaved so I decided to give him the toy as an early Christmas present.”

When the pair arrived home, Ms. Angel watched happily as her baby boy started unboxing and playing with the musical AlphaPup toy. However, Ms. Angel’s happy smile quickly turned to shock when Huey began testing out the phrases the dog speaks. “He was sat there playing away happily and then he pressed the song button and I just looked across the room in shock and asked his dad 'What did that just say?'” recalls Ms. Angel.

According to the Metro, Huey’s toy, the AlphaPup, is an electronic aid that uses rhymes to teach children how to articulate and understand words and rhymes. Specifically, the AlphaPup ‘sings’ the popular children’s nursery rhyme ‘One Two Buckle My Shoe’, replacing the traditional verses with dog-themed versions.

One of these verses ends with the phrases ‘three, four bark at the door’. However, when Huey’s new toy began repeating this phrase, Ms. Angel was shocked to hear something far ruder.

“I went over and pressed the button again and we were just in hysterics,” said the first-time parent. “I think it is meant to say 'three, four bark at the door' but it does not sound like that at all. It’s so funny…We kept pressing it to see if it could sound like anything but the F-word but it doesn’t. It is singing about doing something very rude at the door.”

Ms. Angel and her partner found the toy so funny that they decided to tell their friends and family. “I decided to film it and show it to my parents and Chris’ parents and they all agree, everyone has. And everyone finds it absolutely hilarious,” she said. Unsurprisingly, Ms. Angel’s video has proved to be a hit with everyone, with the young mom saying: “It’s turned out to be entertainment for the whole family.”

Huey’s AlphaPup – which has functions to help children develop their vocabulary and motor skills – is manufactured by VTech Electronics. Both VTech and the company Ms. Angel bought the product from, Toys R Us, were asked to comment on the glitch. At this stage, both have declined the offer.

Despite the AlphaPup’s rude functions, both Ms. Angel and Mr. Hinchliffe have decided to keep the toy for Huey. The first-time parents are certainly adapting well to the challenges of parenthood and clearly adore Huey. “We are absolutely loving being parents,” emphasized Ms. Angel. "It’s brilliant and Huey is the best little boy, he is perfect.”
