Felony Charges On Table For Unruly NFL Fan That Battled Cops Attempting To Remove Him

If you’ve ever attended a professional sporting event, you know that there is sometimes more action in the stands than there is on the field. When thousands of folks are packed together in close quarters, discrepancies can arise here and there. If you add in the fact that some spectators amuse themselves by consuming large quantities of alcohol, then the risk of disagreements increases. At times, words stop doing the trick, and fists start flying as a result.

That was the course of action chosen by 29-year-old Patrick Flynn of Brighton, Massachusetts when he attended the game between the New York Giants and San Francisco 49ers, but he wasn’t throwing fists at another spectator. Instead, he decided to fight back against the police officers that were physically removing him for being a belligerent nuisance. Needless to say, Flynn has some pretty big problems on his plate as a result of his actions.

As the Daily Mail shares, problems started in the fourth quarter of the game. A group of unruly fans was sitting in the first row behind the Giants sideline, and they began flipping off the players and causing a ruckus. When cops went to see what was up and escort the fans out of the stadium, Flynn and company didn’t respond all that well. He wound up getting flipped over the railing during the ensuing scuffle, and he would continue acting violently towards the officers when they joined him at field level.

He was eventually subdued and escorted out of the stadium, and photos of the scene indicate that he was quite proud to be lead out in handcuffs. Either that or he was smashed out of his mind. Regardless, he’s now facing two misdemeanor counts of battery on a police officer. His brother 26-year-old Kyle Flynn, was arrested on suspicion of one misdemeanor count each of being drunk in public and obstruction of justice. Another member of the party, 29-year-old Lauren Alcatraz, was arrested on suspicion of a misdemeanor count of obstruction of justice.

It certainly sounds like they had a fabulous time, and they will now even have mementos of their big day in the form of gigantic black marks on their records. While it’s impossible to get into the mind of those that feel the need to get out of hand in public, the rest of us can use this as another simple reminder: if you don’t know when to say when, you really shouldn’t be mixing alcohol into your diet when out in public.

For sporting events in particular, those that feel the need to become disruptive ruin the time of those that surround them. When confronted with this fact, the guilty party claims that they’re entitled to behave as they see fit because they also purchased tickets. If that nonsense explanation held any kind of weight, they wouldn’t soon find themselves escorted out of the game by security. Perhaps Flynn and company can mull that over before heading out to the game next time around.
