Fearing The Scorn Of Her Fellow Passengers, Mom Gets Proactive With Plastic Baggies

You know the feeling when you walk onto an airplane and you are worried about who will be seated next to. If you have a long flight, sitting next to someone with qualities you do not like could be unbearable. But one thing that makes the flight worse for anyone, no matter where they are sitting, are crying babies. Yes, babies are adorable, sweet and wonderful. But flying with them is less than ideal.

One woman was going to fly with her baby Madeline for the first time and very nervous about it. Instead of taking it all on chance and not caring about the person sitting next to her, she decided to be very proactive and made a plan. She made a care package with a note.

When she boarded the plane with Madeline the next day, Madeline gave the man sitting next to her the note and package. It contained many treats for him and ear plugs. The note read, "I'll try to be on my best behavior, but I'd like to apologize in advance if I lose my cool, get scared or my ears hurt. My mom and dad packed you this goodies bag with a few treats."

The passenger shared the story on Reddit with a photo, captioning it, "“A baby just handed me this on my flight. I ain’t mad" People on the internet also appreciated the mother for the kind gesture, adding comments such as, "When my son was 9 months old on the return trip from grandmas he pitched a fit because it was nap time and he liked to fight sleep like it was the devil himself. After we got in the air and he passed out I apologized to the people around us. The woman sitting next to me smiled and said, "I have three children and six grandchildren from them. I'm immune." and "Nice. Very respectful. Now, if more people would be respectful of everyone, what a wonderful world it would be, huh? The parents of this baby ARE GOOD PEOPLE." Whereas, not everyone thought that this was a good gesture. They commented that parents should not have to try so hard when parenting is hard enough. Others said that it should be the airline's responsibility to provide something extra to nearby passengers.
