FBI Releases More Information, Bad News For Clinton Campaign

During its investigation of Hillary Clinton, the FBI detected 30 emails about the deadly 2012 attack on U.S. facilities in Benghazi, Libya, that the former secretary of state failed to disclose, according to the State Department.

The Washington Examiner reported that on Tuesday, attorneys representing the department asked U.S. District Court Judge Amit Mehta for an additional month to research whether any of the emails contained classified government information. Mehta called for quick action, pointing out the “national interest” in the scandal, according to The Washington Post.

The emails are among almost 15,000 messages that investigators obtained from the private server Clinton used at her New York home while serving as secretary of state. A federal official told The Associated Press that the FBI will eventually release the emails to the public, in response to requests filed under the Freedom of Information Act.

The Western Journalism news site noted that FBI Director James Comey revealed during his press conference last month concerning the Clinton investigation that agents had uncovered more than 100 emails featuring classified documents.

However, Comey announced that his agency would not recommend the filing of any criminal charges against the Democratic presidential nominee. Attorney General Loretta Lynch agreed, telling reporters there would be no indictment.
