FBI Director Did The Unthinkable For Hillary Clinton, His Friend Is Telling The World

When FBI Director James Comey announced that Hillary Clinton would not be prosecuted for sending classified information through an unauthorized email server, many criticized the decision. Comey himself went on to emphasize that Clinton's actions were 'extremely careless,' but he determined that there was no intention to harm the country.

According to Comey's long-time friend and former colleague, the FBI director misinterpreted the law to let Clinton off scot-free.

Andrew McCarthy, a contributing editor at National Review, wrote a piece stating that Clinton should have faced charges. "...Hillary Clinton checked every box required for a felony violation of Section 793(f) of the federal penal code (Title 18)," McCarthy wrote.

According to McCarthy, Clintons intentions were irrelevant. Her 'gross negligence' was the heart of the issue here.

"Director Comey recommended against prosecution of the law violations he clearly found on the ground that there was no intent to harm the United States," wrote McCarthy.

"In essence, in order to give Mrs. Clinton a pass, the FBI rewrote the statute, inserting an intent element that Congress did not require," Comey stated. "The added intent element, moreover, makes no sense: The point of having a statute that criminalizes gross negligence is to underscore that government officials have a special obligation to safeguard national defense secrets; when they fail to carry out that obligation due to gross negligence, they are guilty of serious wrongdoing."

While many anticipated that Clinton would not be charged and have celebrated the decision, clearly not everyone is satisfied with the outcome of the investigation.
