Father Gets Custody Of Infant Son Only To Immediatley Use Him For The Unthinkable

A man in Idaho found responsible for the death of his three-month-old son has been sentenced to 27 years in prison. The judge said it was the 'saddest and worst' case of child abuse he's seen in his 30-year career.

Sylys was almost three months old, but his short life was full of tragedy. An autopsy on the baby revealed that he had suffered 26 rib fractures, two broken legs, and a torn frenulum. Injuries were in various stages of healing. He had bruises everywhere-- including his penis. He'd been starved and dehydrated. His little body finally couldn't take it anymore.

"In those three short months, we're talking about a child who knew nothing but pain, suffering, and hunger," said Prosecuting attorney Erica Kallin.

People who knew Sylys had suspicions about what might be going on. They noticed his father was rough with him. They noticed Sylys never smiled or laughed. He always had bruises. One person even called child services one time, but they closed the case without even seeing the baby. A month later, Sylys was dead.

Isaac Hernandez, 26, confessed to three felony counts of injury to a child. Sylys's injuries were so numerous, an exact cause of death couldn't even be determined. Without a cause of death, they could not link Hernandez to it.
