Family Realize Something Strange About Their Pet...

A woman from Kunming in China went on vacation two years ago and fell in love with a puppy. She was told it was a Tibetan Mastiff, and it was for sale. She bought it on impusle, and brought the dog home to her family.

For two years, the dog always seemed a bit strange to Su Yun, according to The Independent. She had never seen a dog with such a huge appetite before. Before long, the dog was up to eating two buckets of noodles and a box of fruit every single day. Because of this massive appetite, she wasn't entirely surprised that the dog was getting big.

But the dog just kept growing, and growing, and growing. When the dog reached a whopping 250 pounds, Su wondered if he would ever stop growing. Then the dog did something that really shocked her: he stood up and walked on his hind legs.

The family sought out help and discovered that their beoved pet was not, in fact, a dog. It was an Asiatic black bear.

The frightened family may have not realized they had a wild bear in the house, but thankfully they had sense enough to know that the home was not the best place for a bear to live. The bear was transferred to the Unnan Wildlife Rescue Center, where it's being cared for by professionals.

Thankfully, no one was hurt. That could have seriously ended in disaster, though. It's amazing that no one who ever came to the home, no neighbor who ever saw them walking their 'dog', or playing with the 'dog' in the yard, came up to the family to warn them.

It's puzzling to think a family could live with an animal for two years thinking it was a dog, but it happens. They wouldn't be the first family in their region to confuse an Asiatic black bear for a dog. Another man in their region found a bear in the woods. He thought it was a stray dog, brought it home and cared for it. He kept it in a cage.

Another woman in China brought home a cute, fluffy white animal she bought at a pet shop. She thought it was a Japanese Spitz pup, and paid almost 200 for the pet.

The puppy had some odd behaviors though, and didn't act like a dog. He wouldn't eat dog food. He didn't bark. And he had a very thick coat.

The woman found out it wasn't a dog at all, but a fox.

Despite the fact that her pet was a wild animal, the woman still loved it. She had to make a tough decision, but ultimately, she gave it to the zoo. She realized she could never give it the right kind of diet and care that it needed.

Dogs aren’t the only animal some people get confused with wild animals. One grandmother with poor vision and a lot of cats realized that there was an extra hanging out at the food bowls and cuddling up in the cat bed. She thought a stray had just slipped into the house with her own cats, but she didn’t mind caring for one more.

Her grandson came to visit and broke the news to her: it wasn’t a cat, it was an opossum.

Next time you think about bringing a pet home, take a really good look at it… it may not be what you think it is.
