Family Longs to Know Why Baby Died At First Day In Daycare

A family is left with unanswered questions after their 3-month-old girl mysteriously died during her first day of daycare. Adrienne Kromer, left her daughter McKenna Felmly at daycare after her three and a half month maternity leave from work was over. McKenna's father, Bryan Felmly, said Kromer was at work when the daycare told her McKenna was having trouble taking a bottle.

Felmly wrote on a GoFundMe page, "Adrienne asked the day care to syringe feed her since she only had 2 ounces since the time she was dropped off in the morning. Whether or not she did, we don't know." Kromer then contracted the daycare for another update when she was told her daughter went to sleep quickly. Felmly said this wasn't normal for McKenna. As a result, Kromer left work early to go to the daycare.

While she was on her way, the daycare called her to tell her that McKenna was not breathing. When Kromer arrived, McKenna was in transport to a nearby hospital. The Carbon County coroner's office said the baby showed no signs of trauma.

Police Chief Scott Fogel told Lehigh Valley Live, "We are continuing to conduct interviews with family, friends, and employees of the day care. We still have some work to finish yet. I can't say when we will determine manner of death."

McKenna's funeral was held on Saturday. The family set up a GoFundMe page to help for funeral costs, which has already doubled its $5,000 goal.
