Family Engages in Home Renovations and Makes Disturbing Discovery

An Australian family was involved in a home improvement project in order to fix the foundation of their home. As a result, they brought in heavy equipment to dig into their front yard. Even the dog got involved, and she found something quite unexpected--skull fragments.

If that wasn't enough, they found more as they continued digging. So, they called the police.

Initially, they did not want to make a determination whether they are human remains. More help was called in, and it was verified that they were indeed human remains. The family was cleared of any wrongdoing because it was discovered that their home was built on top of an old cemetery.

The cemetery was decommissioned in 1872, and it was thought that the bodies were moved to a new resting spot. The local university intends to send some "archaeologists over to scout through the rest of the disturbed ground."
