Family Endures Living With Decomposing Corpse In Order To Simply Collect This

Within America, there is an ongoing debate about the benefits and limitations of the social security system. Conservatives argue that welfare payments and the system as a whole can be exploited by people unwilling to contribute to society. The debate has been reignited after a gruesome case emerged from Wainwright, Ohio detailing the depraved lengths a family can go to in order to secure welfare payments. In March 2017, police were called out to a home in the community of Wainwright after locals alerted the authorities that a veteran allegedly living with a family, had not been seen for some time.

The Vietnam War veteran, 71-year-old Bob Harris, was discovered decomposing in the home on 21 March 2017. Although, an official autopsy is yet to be conducted, investigators and crime scene analysts believe that the body had been decomposing for several months and was reportedly, “mostly skeletonized”. The Tuscarawas County Sheriff Department directed an unnamed deputy sheriff to pay a visit to the home of Brian Sorphan, Stacy Sorohan and their unidentified daughter after a concerned neighbor contacted authorities in relation to the apparent disappearance of Mr. Harris. In a stunning turn of events, police entered the house and found a body decomposing just meters from Brian and Stacy’s bedroom. Crime scene investigators determined that the decaying corpse was a match for Mr. Harris’ dental and DNA records.

Police were baffled at the family’s conscious decision to live in the house and not report Mr. Harris’s death. While the veteran appears to have died from natural courses, this did not stop the Sorohan family from abusing his extensive welfare benefits as a veteran. The ensuring police investigation uncovered CCTV footage showing one of the family members making several withdrawals in Mr. Harris’ name, using the deceased veteran’s Social Security benefits card. Because of their disrespectful and welfare abuse, Brian and Stacy have been charged with ‘abuse of a corpse and theft of a credit card’.
