Electrician Finds This Inside Hidden Compartment In Home (Photos)

Attorney Jim Siemens purchased the Patton-Parker house in Asheville, NC, and quickly set out to renovate the historic property. According to the Citizen-Times, the home would be chuck full of historically significant information that was neatly tucked away inside a secret compartment.

As the home was first constructed in 1868, significant electrical upgrades were in order, and Siemens enlisted the services of electrician German Martinez. The electrical work was underway when Martinez would make an intriguing discovery. Next to the chimney in the back room of the house would sit a secret compartment.

The compartment was opened and inside would lay a wealth of information that provided a fascinating glimpse into the life of Thomas W. Patton, the home’s original owner that is considered the father of the city of Asheville. Included in the find was leather bound ledgers that offered a peek inside the exclusive Asheville Club, and reams of old documents, which included land grants that were signed by former presidents Andrew Jackson and Martin Van Buren.

Siemens understands the significance of the discovery, and he’s notified local experts to help sort through things.

“It’s been fun. You take on a responsibility when you take on a historic house,” he said.
