Elderly Man Shocked to Find Someone Smeared His Front Door with Feces

An elderly man in Florida has been the president of his condominium's homeowner's association for nearly 30 years. He's never really had a problem with anyone, until a scuffle with a troublemaker who recently moved out of the complex.

He was shocked to find that in the middle of the night, someone smeared his front door with feces. He's sure he knows who did it, but the police can't help him.

Ed Freeh, an 87-year-old resident of St. Petersburg, Florida was awoken by his daughter in the middle of the night on Tuesday. Laura Rainey, who also lives in the Chalet on the Lake condominium community, spotted the disgusting sight on her dad's door. Someone had smeared an abundance of what is believed to be human waste all over it.

The incident happened sometime on Tuesday night. "And my daughter, she lives upstairs, she comes running down the back door and she says, 'you better get out of here,'" Freeh explained. "Because of what happened... you know?"

Rainey was in tears over the mess. The door was positively coated in poop. "I couldn't believe it. It was like a horror movie where we saw the door and all the feces, I was just totally shocked," said Rainey. "And it brought tears to my eyes. And my dad's one of the nicest guys ever. He'd do anything for you."

Both Freeh and Rainey believe they know who did the filthy act of vandalism. There was a disgruntled neighbor who recently moved out. He'd been known for causing trouble.

Police were called and Freeh gave them all of the suspect's information, however there is little officers can do. Because there were no witnesses, their hands are tied. They can't confront the suspect without more evidence.

"People tell us all the time, 'well, I know this person did it. I know 100 percent they did it.' Without solid proof, it is very difficult to proceed with a criminal case."

Officer Timothy McClintock says this situation was not your normal neighbor dispute. "Normal is, 'my neighbor's tree is growing into my yard. My neighbor is playing his music too loud,'" he tells WFLA. ""This is not normal. This has gone to the extreme. "

The officer tells people that if they have a problem neighbor, they should ask other neighbors to watch the person. If anyone sees any illegal activity, they should alert the police. Without a witness, though, or some kind of hard evidence, there is little the police can do.

Maybe it's something in the water, but poop crimes are on the rise in the city. Last year, a 57-year-old man was caught pooping on the floor of a laundromat. He then picked up the fecal matter and stuffed it into the detergent dispenser of a machine. A witness reported the incident to police and the man was arrested.

Two teens were arrested when they snuck into the pool at a fancy hotel and left turds in it.

Last June, the city, located on the Gulf of Mexico, had to shut down three of its beaches because water tests showed a high level of fecal matter in the ocean.
