Richard Williams, 87, and his wife Norma, 83, were doing chores in the garage when a squirrel sneaked in through an open door in his Novato, California home and jumped on him.
It clawed and scratched at Williams' head, arm and legs. It even smashed his glasses. Williams told CBS San Francisco "He charged me and jumped, and from then on, the battle started."
When his wife Norma heard the screams, she ran to his aid. She tried to hit the squirrel with a broom, but it jumped on her and scratched her hands.
A neighbor brought the couple to the hospital where they were treated and received dozens of shots for rabies and tetanus. The Marin Humane Society believes the same squirrel is responsible for attacks on eight people in the past three weeks, such as an attack on a Pacific Gas and Electric Company worker and at the Pleasant Valley Elementary School.
Experts believe the squirrel was fed by humans, so, it thinks all humans have food. Then, when a human doesn't have food, it gets aggressive.
