Elderly Couple Decide To End Their Pain Together

Earl and Mary Myatt, of Oneida, New York married when they were only 17. They were married for 42 years when Mary was dealing with the struggles of recovering from a brain aneurysm. Her husband was left heartbroken by her condition. So, they decided to end it all by standing in front of a speeding freight train on Sunday. Earl called his 30-year-old son Brad Myatt before he and his wife were fatally struck by the CSX train in Verona.

Brad said, "He just said he loved me and he was sorry." Mary suffered a brain aneurysm in January and was in intensive care at Upstate University Hospital for a month. She had to undergo several surgeries on her skull. Brad went on to say "She was his world."

Since Mary's aneurysm, she hasn't been able to hold lengthy conversations, she would get lost and confused about what was happening around her. She also had issues using the bathroom by herself.

On top of that, she was frustrated and her husband was depressed. Brad begged his father to tell him where they were, but Earl hung up. Brad added, "We were spoiled in receiving two fantastic parents." The couple also left four grandchildren behind.
