Egyptian Court Sentences 4-Year-Old to Murder and Attempted Murder

In a January 2014 incident, 116 Egyptians charged with murder, destruction of property, and inciting riots and demonstration. The group included a four-year-old boy, Ahmed Mansour Qarni who was born on September 2012. At the time of the incident, Qarni was only 1.

Defense attorney Faisal a-Sayd said, "The [child's] birth certificate was presented after state security forces added his name to the list of accused, but then the case was transferred to the military court and the child was sentenced in absentia in an ensuing court hearing. This proves that the judge did not read the case."

The boy is charged with four counts of murder, eight counts of attempted murder, threatening soldiers and police officers, and damaging vehicles belonging to security forces.

Social media went wild with many users criticizing Egyptian government corruption. Egyptian lawyer Mohammed Abu Hurira said, “There is no justice in Egypt. Egypt is ruled by a bunch of lunatic."
