Dying Boy Has Final Request Of Santa - ‘Can You Help Me?’

Eric Schmitt-Matzen, 60, had only a few seconds to act when he received a phone call from a Tennessee hospital at which he plays Santa Claus for sick children. As the Daily Mail reports, there was a terminally-ill boy that would likely be passing away at any moment, and that boy wanted to see Santa.

He hopped in his car and headed down to the hospital as quick as he could, and he knew the task at hand wasn’t going to be an easy one.

“I sized up the situation and told everyone, "If you think you're going to lose it, please leave the room. If I see you crying, I'll break down and can't do my job,'" he explains.

Schmitt-Matzen entered the room and presented the five-year-old with a present. The boy was gravely ill, but he still managed to light up at the sight of Santa. He also had some questions, including how he would know he got where he was supposed to go after he passed away.

“When you get there, you tell them you're Santa's Number One elf, and I know they'll let you in,” Santa told him.

The boy summoned the strength up to hug him, and he would pass away in his arms just seconds later.
