Drunk Woman Leaves Her Car In A Parking Lot, Gets A Ride Home - Finds This Note The Next Day

A woman in Alberta went out drinking one night, and did a responsible thing: she left her car parked in a restaurant parking lot and got a ride home. The next day, she showed up to pick up her car. She saw a note in the windshield and braced herself — it was not what she expected.

Paula Grzelak-Schultz wrote on Facebook about her night out, and how she worried that her car might have been towed already as she headed over to pick it up. When she saw it was still there, she noticed something in the window, and expected a ticket or a nasty note from restaurant owners, chastising her.

When she finally retrieved the envelope from the windshield and opened it, she was surprised by the contents. It was a letter from the manager of the establishment, but it didn't say what she thought it would say. The letter from Original Joes’ manager praised her, and included a little gift.

"Just wanted to thank you for leaving your car parked overnight," the letter read. "I’m not sure if you had consumed alcohol at our restaurant or not, but we wanted to thank you for not drinking and driving. Enclosed is voucher good for 1lb of our delicious chicken wings. Please accept this as a thank you for being responsible. Life is valuable, have a great weekend.”

Jay McLean, the restaurant manager, leaves notes like this on cars often. He worries about drunk driving and tries to encourage responsible choices through kind and encouraging gestures.
