Doctors Horrified When They Realize What Did This To Woman's Arm

A woman was left with horrific wounds after being attacked by an unexpected creature.

The woman from Queensland, Australia, has shared photos of the shocking injuries she sustained after being attacked by one of Australia’s most common animals. The Australian mother, known only as Tina, was taken to hospital with deep lacerations and bleeding scratches. Hospital workers realized that Tina has been attacked by some sort of clawed animal and began applying antibiotic salve during a deep clean of the extensive wounds.

After being taken to a hospital in nearby Brisbane, Tina was told that, although her wounds would not become infected, the deep cuts would likely leave scars all over her wrist and arm. At this stage, it remains to be seen if the young mother will suffer from any nerve damage or tendon tears. However, the question that Tina keeps hearing is: what animal attacked you?

Despite the bloody appearance of her wounds, Tina’s injuries were not caused by a crocodile, shark, snake or spider. In fact, the brutal cuts were actually the work of a household cat that belonged to Tina’s neighbor. The scratches and puncture wounds on her arm were sustained when Tina came across a common shorthaired cat growling and stalking her own house cat. After Tina took her pet safely indoors, she discovered her neighbor’s cat had sneaked through a gap in her fence.

As a cat owner herself, Tina was confident that she could coax her neighbor’s cat into leaving the way it came. After stroking the shorthaired cat, Tina attempted to pick up the animal and take it back home, recalling that: “I tried to pick it up and hand it over the fence, but it latched on and attacked for dear life.” Picking up the unfamiliar cat was an enormous mistake as the cat mistook Tina’s kind actions for a threat and began biting and clawing the kind-hearted cat owner.

Despite the horrific injuries she suffered, Tina doesn’t feel any anger at the cat that attacked her, telling the Daily Mail: “I have only myself to blame, stupid me I shouldn't have picked it up. If I knew it was going to freak out I would have just left it and let the owner jump the fence to retrieve it. I'm guessing because it's in a new environment and a stranger picking it up, it was scared and reacted.”

Online commenters have engaged with the surprising story and offered up a wide range of conflicting stories and personal anecdotes. “And that is why you never leave kids alone with cats.. or dogs. You just never know, if an adult can't even predict their behaviour...Imagine the damage done if that had been a child. Looks excruciating,” commented one Daily Mail user.

This opinion was later challenged by another commenter, ‘smudgies’, who wrote: “Any cat owner could have predicted that behaviour. Especially when trying to pick up an already grumpy cat that thinks you're a stranger/threat. Unfortunately for this woman she has learnt the hard way. Hopefully she doesn't scar too badly or have any nerve damage. You never break up a cat fight unless you want your arms to end up like that!”

Doctors believed she was attacked by something much larger.
