Do You Know What This Piercing Means? The Answer May Shock You

Auricular acupuncture is a known cure for chronic migraines that involves stimulation of a pressure point in the center of the ear. A piercing in the same area is called a daith piercing, and it involves the same pressure point as auricular acupuncture with similar effects.

While the daith piercing is thought of by most people as just a matter of personal style, the piercing can relieve the painful symptoms of a migraine headache. Given that the center-ear piercing can double up as attractive jewelry, it is becoming an increasing popular option among younger Americans and Europeans today.

Dave Kurlander, the owner of the Tempest Artistic Studio in Hopewell Junction, New York, notes, ”I’ve had many people come to me looking for migraine relief. It’s a much cheaper alternative to medicine and even acupuncture, and many of their doctors recommend it to them.”

“Essentially it’s the same concept as acupuncture,” Kurlander explains. “The piercing hits a pressure point which then relieves pressure in your head.”

If you are going for a daith piercing for migraine relief, you should get it on the ear matching the side of your head where migraines are strongest.
