Dead Man's Cell Phone Company Refuses To Cancel His Contract, The Reason Is Shocking

According to an older woman who recently lost her husband, unraveling her husband’s life has turned into a difficult problem because his passwords were not included in his “important papers” file.

Not having access to her deceased husband’s passwords has resulted in a huge amount of wasted time and stress for this grieving widow.

For example, his cell phone account (with a major carrier) continues to bill for his phone service months after his death because she can’t get into his account to cancel it without his password.

The upset widow can’t even override the password with the account’s security question, as the answer is the first name of his first childhood friend and she has no idea.

One customer service rep actually told the woman this is what she needed to do: Go to a company store to “authenticate” my husband’s account, and make sure to bring his driver’s license, Social Security number, death certificate and our marriage license!

The widow wants to pass on one important tip for others who might have to deal with the death of a loved one: “The root of dealing with all post-death matters is having a copy of a certified death certificate.

You can do nothing without one. The best advice anyone gave me was to order multiple copies because everyone, including the gas company, wants one.”

She also warns that getting a death certificate in LA is extremely time-consuming, and you better plan on taking a day off work.
After acquiring 20 copies of her husband’s death certificate, she began to transfer all his accounts into her name and deal with the mountain of paperwork that is required for the death of a loved one.

There are more trials and tribulations in this process than you might imagine. For example, the bank refused to switch our account notifications to her email. This is despite the fact that all of the accounts are jointly held with survivor rights!
