Daycare Kills Baby With Benadryl Overdose

In another daycare horror story, a mom in Reynoldsburg, Ohio entrusted her two children to a woman who provided day care services to the public out of her home in the suburbs is grieving the death of her youngest child.

Katie Mulkey dropped her 8-month-old son and three-year-old daughter off at Lori Conley’s house, she thought everything would be as usual when she picked them up after work. Unfortunately, Mulkey got a call just before she left work on May 13th, telling her that her son had been rushed to the hospital in an unresponsive state.

Conley provided daycare in her home for eight children, including Mulkey’s two kids. On the afternoon of May 13th, Conley came running out of her home screaming and holding Mulkey’s son Haddix. The boy was lifeless and blue, and he was rushed to the hospital, but he died a short time later.

It turned out little Haddix had been killed by an overdose of Benadryl given to him by Conley in an effort to make him take a nap. Children under age six are not supposed to take Benadryl, and Mulkey had not given Conley permission to give her children any drugs. Conley had given Haddix an entire adult tablet.

Following a two-week investigation into the fatal incident, Conley was arrested last week and now faces murder and child endangerment charges.
