Dallas Cowboys Star Reveals What Ex Said Before Accusing Him Of Assault

A star NFL player for the Dallas Cowboys has found himself amid a controversial domestic abuse case involving the star and his ex-girlfriend. Ezekiel Elliott, a running back, is supposedly planning to file a notice of appeal to the NFL Commissioner, Roger Goodell, in hopes of lifting the ban and continuing to play. While prosecutors failed to put a case together against Mr. Elliott, the NFL conducted its own investigation into the claim, with “persuasive evidence,” leading them to ban Mr. Elliott.

Tiffany Thompson, former girlfriend of NFL player, Ezekiel Elliott, took to Instagram last year to condemn Mr. Elliott and accuse him of violent behavior towards her. The confronting post, which included images of some of the injuries Ms. Thompson had suffered, detailed the months of abuse Ms. Thompson faced and encouraged other women in abusive relationships to “put a stop to it.”

According to the Star-Telegram, Mr. Elliott was never charged or arrested over the allegations due to the failure of Ohio prosecutors to put together a compelling case. Despite the prosecutors stating that their evidence was based on “conflicting and inconsistent information,” the NFL special counsel for conduct, Todd Jones, confirmed that advisors brought in by the league “were of the view that there is substantial and persuasive evidence supporting a finding that [Elliott] engaged in physical violence against Ms. Thompson on multiple occasions.”

However, prosecutors and NFL officials have similar concerns regarding the trustworthiness of Ms. Thompson after it was alleged that she gave a number of misleading statements to investigators. Furthermore, Mr. Elliott has attempted to have his ban waivered by highlighting the fact that Ms. Thompson threatened to “ruin” Mr. Elliott’s career, supposedly stating that she was going to “ruin [Mr. Elliott’s] life,” and that “You’re [Mr. Elliott] a black male athlete. I’m a white girl, they are not going to believe you.” The alleged threats against Mr. Elliott were said to have been made on the day Ms. Thompson called police, accusing Mr. Elliott of assaulting her inside a parked car.

Other evidence against Ms. Thompson has also brought her reliability into doubt, with text messages from Ms. Thompson to a close friend, Ayrin Mason. The messages supposedly saw Ms. Thompson asking her to lie about the assaults against her.

Despite the doubt cast over Ms. Thompson’s claims, the NFL maintains that there is sufficient evidence to incriminate Mr. Elliott, asserting that on at least three occasions, Mr. Elliott did assault Ms. Thompson. While Mr. Elliott has continually denied the allegations, the NFL maintain that Ms. Thompson suffered from injuries to her arms, neck, shoulders, face, knee, hips, wrists and hands from the three incidents, one of which Ms. Thompson accused Mr. Elliott of picking “her up and throwing [her] across the room by [her] arms,” and choking her until she had to “gasp for breath.”

After learning of his suspension, Mr. Elliott took to Twitter to express his disappointment, tweeting “both surprised and disappointed by the NFL’s decision, and I strong disagree with the league’s findings.”
