Dad Gets Bad Feeling About Shed, Checks Inside - Police Start Swarming In Minutes

Two older teens in Germany, a brother and a sister, told their father that they were having a gathering with friends in the garden shed on their property. The teens would often hang out in the shed with their friends, but the next morning the father woke up and realized that the teens had not come home. He called authorities, afraid of what he might find in the shed.

Police arrived and the man reported that his son, daughter and four of their friends were dead inside the shed. The teens, all aged 18 through 19, might have made a fatal mistake. IT was a cold night, so they had turned on a small stove. Police believe the teens died of carbon monoxide poisoning.

“It remains unclear what led to the death of the six people, but there were no indications of any violent crime," said Bjorn Schmitt, police spokesman, to the media.

Schmitt adds that while carbon monoxide poisoning is the most likely possibility, there are still other possibilities. Police are investigating to confirm the cause of death before jumping to conclusions. Autopsies have been ordered for all of the bodies, including drug tests.

Many people on the internet has sympathized with the grieving father. Facebook comments have poured in.
“What a terrible shock for that poor man. What a waste of all those young lives. Thoughts are with all of their families,” said one.

“Let’s educate our youngsters about building up of carbon monoxide poisoning caused by using heating in small airless spaces. It happens even in modern tents. Those poor teenagers,” said another.

Carbon monoxide is known as a 'silent killer.' It's odorless and can build up without a person realizing it. It may cause a headache or nausea, but also causes drowsiness. Some people being poisoned by carbon monoxide will drift off to sleep before they even realize what is happening.
