Dad Finds Hidden Envelope In Daughter's Glove Compartment, Breaks Down After Reading What's Inside

A dad found a letter which blew him off his feet in a car he bought for his daughter. Kevin Duke just wanted to surprise his 16-year-old daughter with a new car that would be safe and reliable. The loving dad personally examined the car to make sure it would be a good fit. He thought he had gone through everything in checking it out to make sure his little girl was getting a good one.

Even though he had opened the glovebox before, what he found on taking a closer look was surprising. It was an envelope with a hand written letter.

“Well, yesterday I’m in it tinkering around and I open this storage compartment on top of the dash (which I’ve opened a half dozen times already). This time I notice a rubber mat in the bottom of it and for whatever reason, I pull it out,” Kevin said.

The letter was left for whoever happened to purchase the vehicle. The previous owner had written “New Car Owner Important Info Inside.” Thinking it was a fun find, Kevin was excited to see what it would say.

The letter described how the previous owner was the mother of the person who wrote the note. The car he had just bought had meant a lot to the women giving away her mother’s car. A fire had killed her mother, aunt, and her six-year-old daughter. The high cost of the funeral expenses had forced her to sell. In spite of the tragic circumstances of the sale, the seller hoped the new owners would be able to create happy memories with the purchase.

The heart-wrenching note said,“By the way, her name is Sylvia. The very first day mom got this car, we all rode around and Dr. Hook’s Sylvia’s Mother came on the radio. The name kind of just stuck when my daughter said that’s what we should name the car. So please don’t change her name. If you ever want to sell Sylvia, please try to find me. I just paid for 3 funerals, I can’t afford to buy it right now, but hopefully, I’ll be in a better financial situation if you decide later that she’s just not right for you anymore.”

After posting the letter to social media it immediately went viral. The writer of the letter then came forward and Kevin and his daughter immediately began fundraising for the original owner of the car to be able to buy it back.
