Dad Disciplines His 12-Year-Old Daughter, Takes Her Phone Away - Police Arrest Him

A Texas man believes justice has been served now that he's been declared 'Not Guilty' of stealing his daughter's cell phone. He couldn't believe the case went as far as it did.

Ronald Jackson says it wasn't 'theft' when he took his 12-year-old daughter's cell phone. "I was being a parent," he explains. "You know, a child does something wrong, you teach them what’s right. You tell them what they did wrong and you give them a punishment to show them they shouldn’t being doing that.”

Jackson found a rude text on his daughter's phone and confiscated it as a punishment. Jackson's ex-wife enlisted the help of her current husband, a police officer, to get cops to go retrieve it.

When police showed up on his door, he refused to return the phone. “I didn’t want the police department telling me how to parent my child. It made no sense to me for them to show up and make a big deal out of something that was a small thing,” he said.

Jackson was charged with misdemeanor theft and the case went to court, but the judge sided with Jackson. The judge said there was no evidence to prove a theft had occurred.

Jackson's ex-wife says her husband should have just returned the phone.
