Customer Does The Unthinkable After Elderly Man Suffering From Colon Cancer Was Too Ashamed To Ask For Help

Though Lisa Lemming took two hours out of her day to help an elderly man who soiled himself, she said he’s the one that gave her the gift of seeing how loving complete strangers can be.

According to Shareably, she noticed the man standing inside a Kroger grocery store in Georgia and knew something wasn’t right. Something was wrong with him and he looked embarrassed.

"I have colon cancer,” Elmer explained to Jackson, according to a Facebook post on the page Love What Matters. “And I have had a really bad accident. If I get up out of this cart everyone will know...What should I do?"

She then asked the Kroger staff to get some wipes and they rushed to her aid. They even gave him some new clothes to change into. Elmer cried and said he had to get home to his wife who was alone. When they got to the checkout country, Elmer realized that Kroger paid for his groceries.

"He cried harder," Jackson said in a Facebook post. "He said he fought in Vietnam and [the] Korean War and loved his country, but up until [to]day he said he thought his country forgot about him."

Jackson said that she was pleased to see people helping each other out.

“We both cried and I shared with him my own struggles and fears… He gave me words of wisdom and encouraged me that maybe after all, humanity still does care about one another,” she wrote. “Today proved it. Thank you Elmer, thank you Kroger and thank you God for the lesson and reminder I received today.”
