Court Makes Shocking Judgement For Sheriff Joe

A federal appeals court has ruled in favor Maricopa County, Arizona’s Sheriff Joe Arpaio conducting searches to find illegal immigrants. Arpaio will resume his department’s conducting of workplace raids to search for illegally employed undocumented immigrants.

Your Nation News, reports that a judge originally ruled that Arpaio, who earned the nickname “Toughest Sheriff in America,” had to stop his raids. However, the 9th U.S. Circuit Court reversed the ruling. In addition to resuming their raids, the reversal allows Arpaio to also enforce identity-theft and undocumented immigrant-related laws again.

Civil rights activists have tried to fight against Arpaio’s efforts to enforce immigration laws locally. They call the measure unconstitutional and say that the ruling is a “big blow” but only a “temporary victory.”

“I saw a lot of crying ladies a lot of crying children because the parents were being taken away,” said one woman who witnessed a workplace raid.

Another activist said that despite even though they lost the lawsuit, they were able to keep the county raid-free for a year and half while the case was being determined, and that to them is a victory.
