Couple's Wedding Photo Is Going Viral - The Reason Is Heartbreaking (Photos)

One cancer patient had a dying wish: to marry the love of his life. They had to speed up the wedding plans to make sure it would happen.

Nicole Wismer of Nashville was with her boyfriend, Chris Ford, when the two thought they would have a long and happy future together. Wismer had just given birth to the couple's son when Ford was diagnosed with a deadly cancer.

Ford was given an 80 percent chance of survival, but despite the odds being in his favor, things didn't work out. The tumor didn't respond to treatment and the cancer spread from his throat to his lungs and other organs.

Wismer was there when Ford got the news that he was terminal. "You still want to marry me, don't you?" she asked him.

After Ford's cancer diagnosis, between medical bills and the expense of raising their child, they had put off the wedding for a year. But at the doctor's office that day, it seemed that it would be now or never.

Though it would be difficult, they were determined to make it happen. Thankfully, word got out, and compassionate people offered to help.

"People we never even knew contacted us," said Ford's mother, Amy. "We had DJs ... photographers, videographers, people offering to cook, florists, our cakes ... the guy who owns City Liquors in La Vergne called and said, 'What do you need?'"

Chris was weak. He had to wear a pain patch, and he couldn't stand for long. He couldn't even talk and had to wear oxygen. But once he tied the knot, he mustered up the strength to dance down the aisle with his bride.

"It doesn't matter how long you've been together, it doesn't matter the circumstances, it shouldn't matter. I love him too much (to walk away)," said Nicole.
