Couple Slammed With Maximum Sentences Allowed For Producing Child Porn

The judge has referred to this case against an Alabama couple as the worst he has seen in all of his years behind the bench. According to Fox 8, he handed down the maximum allowable sentences for their twisted crimes, and it sounds like he would have added on more time if it was within his power to do so.

Matthew and Patricia Ayers of Lauderdale County, Alabama have pleaded guilty to almost 100 counts of producing child pornography. The couple struck plea agreements in which they admitted to numerous disturbing acts, which the federal judge assigned to the case had this to say about.

"I have been on the bench since 1998, and this is the worst case I have personally dealt with, including murders. You robbed this child of her childhood and her soul, and a maximum sentence is the only sentence appropriate," said U.S. District Judge L. Scott Coogler.

The judged imposed a sentence of 1,590 years on Patricia, and 750 years on her husband Matthew, which represents the maximum penalties permitted for each count.
