Couple Hears Weird Crinkling Noise Under Their Sheets - Disgusted When They Realize What It Is

Investigative reporters in Northern New Jersey set up secret cameras in hotel rooms to film the maids. Service was not quite up to the standards you would expect. If you like to travel a lot, you may not want to know this - or at least, you may not want to think about it.

The Rossen Reports team booked rooms in different hotels, each for a two-night stay. They stayed at a Holiday Inn, a DoubleTree hotel and at the Crowne Plaza hotel. On the first night, the reporters tried to do to the room what any normal customer might do-- they left used towels on the floor, left dirty glasses and rumpled up the beds. Then they called for housekeeping.

The guests left a card for the maid requesting all linens be changed. In Holiday Inn and Doubletree, the maids did change the sheets, but not the pillowcases. The pillows, which had been placed on the dirty chair while the beds were being changed, merely got a fluff before they were put back on the bed.

In all three of the hotels, maids used dirty towels picked up from the floor to wipe down showers, toilets and counters. The maid in the Crowne Plaza even rinsed (no soap) and wiped the glasses with the dirty towel left on the floor. She then put paper caps on the glasses marking them 'sanitized.'

All three hotels gave statements saying that cleanliness and sanitary practices are strict and that the incidents are being reviewed. They vow to follow up with appropriate actions.

Maybe hotel maids should be forced to wear body cams.
