Couple Finds Nasty Surprise In Fast Food Meal - Not Your Typical Burger Topping

A couple from the UK wasn’t loving it when they found something they didn’t order in a fast food cheeseburger. Mark and Natalie Wood had gotten some takeout from their local McDonald’s, and Natalie was stunned when she found a screw inside one of the buns. As NX2 shares, she had just unwrapped the burger for her two-year-old son.

Mark had grabbed some takeout on the way home, but it doesn’t sound like he’ll be stopping back at that restaurant anytime soon.

“Natalie opened it for Myles but sometimes they open it themselves. There it was on top. I couldn’t believe it. I rang them up straight away and they said they would give us a free meal but we were all put off by the food. My seven-year-old said he didn’t want to eat there again,” he explains.

He returned the food to the McDonald’s, and he was pretty put off by how the manager handled things.

“My wife runs a food prep company. If something like this happened to us, we would be finished. When the supervisor down there gave us a new burger he said, 'There should be no screws in this one,' but it’s nothing to joke about. Hopefully, they’ll get to the bottom of it,” he continued.

Natalie was equally dismayed by the situation and the store’s reaction.

“I’m shocked and outraged, to say the least. One of my sons could have bitten into it. I immediately rang the store who said, ‘We can change it, bring it back.’ Unhappy with this, I called customer services and was apologized to greatly and said, ‘It shall be investigated but we shall send you some vouchers,’” she said.

For McDonald’s part, the company has released a statement on the incident.

“As soon as this was brought to our attention, we apologized and offered to replace all of Ms. Wood’s meals which was accepted at the time. We have launched an investigation following the reporting of this incident, and the object will be sent to an independent specialist for identification. We will be in touch with Ms. Wood once this is complete,” the statement read in part.
