Couple In Disbelief After Seeing This VA Hospital Waiting Room, The Sick Photos Are Going Viral

A couple has been left emotionally distressed after witnessing a nurse at the Department of Veteran Affairs (VA) Medical Centre, Durham, North Carolina, ignore several severely ill veterans in the emergency room. Since their move from Milwaukee to Raleigh, Marine veteran Stephan McMenamin and his wife Hannah, have had repeated issues in the hospital in regards to getting appointments and being forced to wait several hours just to refill a prescription.

When the couple was yet again waiting in the emergency room of the VA, they were shocked to see several older veterans being completely ignored and forced to wait despite showing signs of excruciating pain. Hannah told reporters that she thought one of the men, an aged veteran in a wheelchair, ‘was going to die in front of her’ due to what could only be described as debilitating pain. It was for this reason that the couple decided to document the mistreatment of these war heroes and post it to Facebook, where it was met with outrage and concern for the men involved. ‘He had been sitting there for quite some time groaning and convulsing in pain… almost to the point where he was falling out of his wheelchair’ stated Mr. McMenamin, clearly saddened by the lack of sympathy displayed by a particular nurse. The nurse, who kicked the elderly man out of the wheelchair Mr. McMenamin offered him, was said to be ‘very rough with him and just completely insensitive’.

Another unknown veteran also caught the attention of Mr. and Mrs. McMenamin when he laid down on the floor, defeated and immovable. He told the nurse ‘I can’t get up; I won’t get up. Please get me a blanket until you can see me,’ before being taken from the waiting room by security. This horrible lack of care is simply unacceptable for anyone, let alone veterans. This view is supported by the Director of the VA Hospital in Durham, Ms. DeAnne Seekins, who has assured the parties involved that the employee in question has been removed from patient care and will be subject to internal review for their lack of respect and treatment of the elderly men. Ms. Seekins told reporters if war veterans are not receiving respectful, top-notch care at the VA hospital, then there has been a dis-service to America.
