Couple Arrested For Disgusting Mistreatment Of Young Boy - Forced To Drink His Own Urine

A couple from East Texas, Matthew McMahon, 29, and step-mother Randa Askew Faust McMahon, 36, have been charged with first-degree injury to a child after the pair were accused of whipping their 4-year-old son until he bled and locking him in a kennel for days after he urinated on himself.

The court heard that the couple from Shelby County had abused their 4-year-old son when he would accidentally go to the bathroom on himself, locking him in a dog kennel and denying him water for several days at a time. On one occasion, it is alleged that the boy was forced into an empty cargo trailer and was locked away without food or water for at least 24 hours.

Court documents also revealed that Mrs. McMahon would force the toddler to drink his own urine instead of giving him water. The woman would also punish the toddler if he did not eat his meals, an act that would, according to Mrs. McMahon’s 14-year-old, earn him a beating with a stick until his bottom bled.

The 14-year-old boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, also revealed the more disturbing details regarding the boy’s abuse, which occurred when the family travelled with Mr. McMahon for work.

The Shelby County Sheriff’s Investigator, Chad Brown, was informed by Lieutenant Kevin Windham of the abuse after witnesses reported the mistreatment of the child. Child protective services interviewed all of Mrs. McMahon's adult children prior to the couple’s arrest.

An elder daughter of Mrs. McMahon revealed that the young boy “has a problem with not wanting to eat,” and labelled him as a “terrible child” who was jealous and would drive her and her sister away from their mother. The other daughter of Mrs. McMahon defended her mother’s abusive actions, stating that leaving the boy for days without water “was OK because children could go safely for several days without water,” and said that her mother’s actions were justified, as he would often sneak into the fridge for liquids.

According to the arrest affidavit, the father of the boy, Matthew McMahon, was completely supportive of his wife’s disciplinary methods, although he did not participate in them. Mr. McMahon still faces charges for his neglect to help his own son during the abuse.

Both Mr. and Mrs. McMahon were held in the Shelby County Jail on $200,000 bond each, set by Justice of the Peace, Precinct 3 Judge, Margie Anderson. However, after being granted a bond reduction, the couple have walked free and are set to stand trial in July.

An emergency order for protection has been filed by Child Protective Services with County Attorney Gary Rholes and it is believed that the young boy is staying with other family members or his grandparents. Attorney Lynda K. Russel was appointed as the representative of the 4-year-old child in the upcoming court case.
