Cops Stop Man For Public Urination - Stunned To Discover What He Had On Him

As you can imagine, police officers inside the Los Angeles County light rail station were a bit taken aback when they spotted a man treating his surroundings as if they were a urinal. 28-year-old Christopher Goodine had to go, so he decided it was perfectly appropriate to take care of business right in the train station. Police spotted him urinating in plain sight, and they decided to go have a chat with him.

As the Independent Journal Review shares, it’s a really good thing they did. Goodine had a duffel bag with him, and that bag was chock full of weapons. As CBS Los Angeles reported, there was quite a haul in the bag, as it included “an AR-15 rifle, a .40-caliber handgun, a machete-like knife, silencers, loaded magazines, bags of bullets, along with a notebook and Bible.”

Goodine was immediately taken into custody, and he’s being held on $10,000 bail in anticipation of a court appearance. Sheriff Jim McDonnel had nothing but words of praise for the officers.

“For these deputies, just another day … looking at the small things that end up turning into big things,” he said. “There but for the grace of God, we could have had a tragedy today here in Los Angeles.”

No word on why the man had so many weapons with him, but the possibilities are chilling. It’s not believed to be linked to terrorism in any way, but the possibilities of a man entering mass transit with such high-powered weapons are enough to cause any commuter to lose some sleep.

“When you have someone walking around with this type of weaponry, this much ammunition, the outcome would not have been good no matter what he was going to do,” McDonnel continued. “Their proactive actions are commendable and may have saved a lot of lives on the transit system this afternoon or in our communities.”

Deputy Katherine Zubo and Deputy Juan Gonzalez-Valencia were on the scene with Goodine, and they offered up some thoughts on the incident.

“I think honestly the first thing I felt was relief because we got to this stuff first,” Zubo said.

"Everyday we unite with all our partners and our sergeants. We talk about getting this guy everyday…you can see we got one today,” Gonzalez-Valencia added.

Police noted that Goodine was cooperative with them, but he did lie about his name. It didn’t take too long for cops to figure that out, and they have noted that the guns and ammo may have come from a dealer in Georgia. As for the deputies, this is just another example of how one minor incident can turn out to be something much greater.

Each and every day, officers across the nation come across seemingly minor infractions that lead to a bigger problem. In Goodine’s case, he was cooperative, but many times those with something to hide are not. While that goes with the territory when it comes to law enforcement, it doesn’t make it any less frightening.
