Cops Make Shocking Revelation About Tupac

Over the span of six months between 1996 and 1997, the music industry lost two incredibly talented young men to senseless acts of violence. On September 13, 1996, Tupac Shakur would pass away due to gunshot wounds from a drive-by shooting in Las Vegas. Fast forward to March 9, 1997, and The Notorious B.I.G. would succumb to the same fate in Los Angeles. There has long been speculation that the deaths are related, as there was a lingering feud between the two men, as well as their respective record labels. That feud played out in the public eye with a number of inflammatory comments, as well as via incendiary lyrics on both of the stars tracks.

As Metro shares, an explosive new documentary, ‘Who Shot Biggie & Tupac?’ is attempting to shed some light on what really happened. The documentary claims to have solved at least one piece of the puzzle. Former Compton Police Department officers Tim Brennan and Robert Ladd spoke to Soledad O’Brien and Ice-T in one clip, and they claim to know who pulled the trigger on Shakur.

“They had all these other theories going on, but it was a really simple gang one-on-one to Tim and I,” Ladd said. “We believe Orlando Anderson was the one who did it.”

Anderson was a member of the Crips street gang. He was murdered in 1998, but informants told the cops that he long boasted about killing Shakur. Legend has it that Anderson was assaulted by members of Shakur’s crew, and the shooting was retaliation for that. Following Anderson’s death, Brennan claims to have found the gun used to kill Shakur amongst other weapons that had been seized by the police department. The weapons were traced back to having been found at the home of the girlfriend of a gang member that was in Vegas on the night of the shooting.

While it’s an interesting and convincing theory, it’s unlikely to quell speculation on what really happened. Shakur was in a car with former Death Row Records CEO Suge Knight when he was shot multiple times. Knight was miraculously not shot, and that gave rise to theories that he had Shakur killed. The documentary attempts to put rest to that theory as well, and it essentially concludes that it was just dumb luck that spared Knight.

The disgraced former rap mogul was interviewed as part of the documentary, and he’s not ruling out the other wild theory that Shakur is still alive.

“When I left that hospital, me and Pac was laughing and joking. So I don’t see how somebody could turn from doing well to doing bad,” he said, later adding, “With Pac… you never know.”

Regardless of what happened in both of the shooting deaths, the fact remains that two men lost their lives in senseless acts of violence. Whether either of them was retaliatory in nature is irrelevant in the grand scheme of things. The music industry lost two men with transformatory talent, and neither of their families will ever be the same.
