Cops Called After Elderly Couple Heard Weeping, Police Quickly Realize What's Happened

Italian police officers expected to find a domestic dispute in progress when the answered called in Appio, Rome on a report of someone crying and shouting. However, when the four officers arrived at the scene they found an elderly couple in tears, Buzzfeed reports.

Eighty-four-year-old Jole and her 94-year-old husband Michele were devastated and wailing after watching the news on television. They were disturbed over the amount of hate that was portrayed on the news everyday. Jole was so upset that she began to cry so loud that someone in her building called the cops.

The elderly couple, who had been married for almost 70 years, had very few visitors in the previous years. Officers noticed that they only had some old grapes in their tape and it appeared that they hadn’t had a proper meal in quite some time. While police waited for an ambulance to arrive to check on the health of the couple they decided they would make something proper for the couple to eat.

That’s when they chewed up some pasta with butter and sat down to chat with the couple. Police in Rome shared the story on Facebook where it went viral.
